Community Center & Public Facilities

PAIC owns a one-acre plot in the heart of Port Alsworth that serves as the hub for our public facilities. On this site is the Port Alsworth Community Center (PACC) and our Electric Utility, which includes the power plant and bulk fuel storage. The PACC houses multiple essential community services, including the PAIC office, clinic, post office, electric office, and the Volunteer Fire Department Hall and garage. This centralized location allows PAIC to efficiently manage and provide vital services that support the residents of Port Alsworth. 

Building Upgrades

VFD / First Responder Building
PAIC plans to construct a new building in the northwest corner of our lot to house the Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) and First Responders. This new facility will allow for safe and efficient storage of new equipment, which has been limited due to space constraints. We also plan to extend the existing heat recovery loop from the power plant—currently serving the PACC and school—to this new building, providing an affordable heating solution. Additionally, we aim to install a fire hydrant within the building to allow water truck refills during winter, replacing the current practice of drilling holes in Hardenburg Bay.

Clinic Expansion
With the construction of the new VFD building, PAIC intends to expand the clinic into the space currently occupied by the VFD firehall, providing increased space for healthcare services for the community.

PACC Building Upgrades
PAIC continues to invest in maintaining and improving the PACC facilities. Recent and ongoing upgrades include:

• Drilling a new well on site to ensure reliable water access.

• Completing a bathroom renovation to correct piping and venting issues.

• Improving ventilation in the VFD Hall for better air quality and safety.

Community Center Room Rental

The Port Alsworth Community Center offers a meeting space available for community and private events. Reservations can be made by contacting the PAIC Administrator at portalsworth@gmail.com.
