The Port Alsworth Improvement Corporation (PAIC) is a not-for-profit community association dedicated to promoting the common good and general welfare of the residents of Port Alsworth, Alaska. Organized under the Alaska Nonprofit Corporation Act (AS 10.20), PAIC operates perpetually to provide services and resources within the community, ensuring they are available without regard to race, color, creed, sex, or national origin.

As a nonprofit community association, PAIC serves as a focal point for community affairs in an unincorporated area without municipal government. The organization can receive state and federal funding, apply for legislative grants, and manage resources for community projects and public services such as maintaining roads, community buildings, or other shared facilities. PAIC also serves as a point of contact for residents, visitors, contractors, and government officials.

Membership is open to all year-round residents of Port Alsworth who are 18 or older. Members may vote and serve on the Board of Directors, which is composed of seven members serving staggered three-year terms to ensure continuity. The Board elects officers annually—including a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer—who oversee the Corporation’s operations, finances, and contracts. Board meetings are held monthly, publicly noticed, and open to community members, ensuring transparency and active engagement.

PAIC is responsible for sound financial management, including maintaining accurate records, administering grants, and meeting legal reporting requirements. The organization also provides for risk management and adheres to all statutory responsibilities as a nonprofit. In the event of dissolution, any remaining assets are distributed to other nonprofit, nondiscriminatory organizations with purposes similar to PAIC, ensuring continued benefit to the community.

Through these activities, PAIC works to enhance the quality of life in Port Alsworth, foster community engagement, and sustain the unique character and vitality of the area.
